part three: OPENING CEREMONY, 23rd July 2019.
As you know by now, I have started a charity campaign and raised money over the last couple of months. Around the month of May, I sent all the money to the school in Sri lanka, they then started with the renovations of the three classrooms (for further information read the caption under my 8th post). During summer break (July 2019) I had the amazing opportunity to fly to Sri Lanka with my family. After spending some time with friends and family over there, I finally (on July 23rd to be exact) got the chance to visit the school myself.
Both my family and I were welcomed extremely kind. As soon as we got to the school they first gave us a quick tour of the whole school and we then ate lunch which they have had prepared beforehand.
After lunch the opening ceremony started. We were told to get to the gate of the school all the way at the front. Then my family as well as the principle and some other men from the education department who got invited and were there aswell were greeted and were given a flower garland. From there on we were lead to the entrance of the school, accompanied by a band which consisted of school children. We then one after the other lit the oillamp (மங்கள விளக்கேற்றல்) and eventually got to the most exciting part: the opening of the three classrooms.
TO BE CONTINUED IN THE NEXT POST.

The Bella Foundation raises awareness of domestic violence. By understanding what an abusive relationship is people can make a decision to get out and get the support needed.
Join me in the journey. Support us at www.thebella.org as we support sister agencies with critical projects and programs for victims of domestic violence.
Yesterday our volunteers had a very enjoyable time at The Coppice for their Big Charity Fun Day.
Our Hoopla went down well with the kids resulting in a lot of pocket money going to help the needy cats of Swale.
Our volunteers made the most of the day by selling Big Cat Raffle tickets to everyone they could, with the Guess the Name of the Tiger competition being highly popular.
Big thank you goes to everyone who made the day what it was and The Coppice for letting us attend their day.
We wouldn’t blame you for never wanting to get out of bed when you’ve got a cutie like this in it. Handsome Jack Daniels is a 3 month old, 8 pound Lab Mix who arrived from a southern shelter yesterday and is looking quite comfy already.

Earlier this week my Police Department donated over 70 bikes to Working Bikes, a not-for-profit bike shop who will fix up bikes and donate them to at need communities around the world. Traditionally the bikes would be auctioned and a few years ago we decided it would be much more beneficial to the community to donate them. Working Bikes was great to work with and came to pick up the bikes. I think next year I am going to try and organize a bike drop off day where the residents can donate their old bikes. #donate#payitforward#community#communitypolicing#chicago

"When I use the phrase, “the reckless love of God”, I’m not saying that God Himself is reckless. I am, however, saying that the way He loves, is in many regards, quite so. What I mean is this: He is utterly unconcerned with the consequences of His actions with regards to His own safety, comfort, and well-being. His love isn’t crafty or slick. It’s not cunning or shrewd. In fact, all things considered, it’s quite childlike, and might I even suggest, sometimes downright ridiculous. His love bankrupted heaven for you. His love doesn’t consider Himself first. His love isn’t selfish or self-serving. He doesn’t wonder what He’ll gain or lose by putting Himself out there. He simply gives Himself away on the off-chance that one of us might look back at Him and offer ourselves in return." - Cory Asbury
This is a great reminder!

Veterinaria Super Mascotas is located in Barranquilla Colombia currently our shelter holds 50 dogs.
Buts it is very hard to keep up with all the expenses as the mony is very limited.
Mostly we rely on donations of kind people .
Space is limited and every day more cases of abuse and neglect come to our shelter.
We started a raffle to help our dogs with food , we also want to put a roof so the dogs don't get weet in the rain season.
And pay for a surgery for a dog(rosita) who needs it so urgently for her rear legs.
Thank you!! You can follow us on instagram veterinariasupermascotas.

Make sure you follow the Mystery Box Rally!
Teams will drive their own 25+ year old cars along a mystery route in this unique 5 day challenge, all in the name of cancer research. The route is a loop starting and finishing at the same location, but all the other details are kept under wraps, only given to the teams each morning.
The teams will need to source their own 25+ year old car to use on the rally. There are no budget restrictions but if the car dies, you leave it behind & it’s up to you to retrieve it after the rally if you want to keep it. There will be no auction after the rally so you will be able to drive it to and from the departure/arrival location.
On the morning of each day you will be given that day’s route and destination (obviously!). We will take care of most other things for you so it is generally stress free, easy really to participate in. Kind of…
Each team will need to raise a minimum amount of $3,500 for Cancer Council but every extra dollar counts.
Support the Cancer Council in this creative way to raise funds and awareness.
This is King, the bear my family "adopted". He is 26 and he spent most of his life in captivity, living in a cage too small for him. He's been rescued by the staff of the Libearty Bear Sanctuary and is now living (almost) free in the Sanctuary - unfortunately, as many other bears born or raised in captivity, he is unable to provide food or survive in the wild alone. If you have the chance, visit the Libearty Bear Sanctuary in Zărnești (Romania); you'll find something to learn in the eyes of a bear.
Can we ask for your help please ?
As many of you know, I am the sole carer of more than 80 dogs and cats. Apart from 'my' dogs , I also rescue other animals in need, coordinate adoptions and foster animals. I am a student and work two jobs to meet with the expenses. I work from 11-5 on weekdays and attend to animals in need (vet visits, rescues, house checks) in the evening and work from home at night. I then go out at 11 pm to feed 32 dogs and 3 cats. I had started feeding two dogs over 3 years back near my erstwhile institute where I was studying. Over the years the numbers grew exponentially and when I moved out of the place a year back , I appointed a feeder to feed the 50+ dogs and cats there. I go and supervise every week. The weekends are used for follow ups on adoptions, vet visits, hospital visits and visiting the ones in foster and if I get time I try to spend time with my special needs puppy.
Though I love doing what I do and will not have it any other way. At times I find it difficult to do it all by myself and am asking for a little help from you. Instead of asking for money, I have made an Amazon wish list of the things I absolutely require right now. Will you please do a little shopping for us?
Most of the items on the list are not going to be used for the daily feeding. The list comprises of mostly medicines which my animals absolutely need. My dogs eat homemade food and the price of rice on Amazon is too high. I buy rice for Rs 22/kg and need 350kgs per month. In case you want to help me with buying rice. Please do get in touch with me directly. If I get more than I require, I will distribute it to other volunteers working for animal welfare or to a shelter.
Will you please spread the word?
